Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Announces 2010 Hispanic Heritage Month Business & Community Awards
The Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NAHCC) announced the recipients of its 2010 Hispanic Heritage Month Business & Community Awards during its annual celebration last Thursday October 14th, 2010 at the TN State Museum in Nashville.
Winners were selected from among nominations received from the Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Clarskville and Knoxville areas. Mario Ramos, Vice-Chair of the NAHCC said: "I congratulate these outstanding recipients on their accomplishments and leadership. With their diverse backgrounds, they are the backbone of our organization and a vital component of our community."
During Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15) the NAHCC recognizes the professional, civic and business contributions of its members while also recognizing non-members whose involvement has had a meaningful impact on the community at large throughout the year. Nominees are selected from among those who have demonstrated commitment and leadership to the advancement of the organization, the Hispanic community, and the city of Nashville.

We are honored to recognize members and individuals in our community whose work and achievements have been vital to the empowerment, growth and appreciation of Hispanic businesses and community" said Yuri Cunza, NAHCC President & CEO.

Roxana Velasquez - Siete Mares Restaurant/Fantasy Hall
Roxanna Velasquez owner of Siete Mares Restaurant received the Hispanic Business Achievement Award.
Roxana Velazquez and her husband Eduardo Moreno opened Siete Mares in 1996. In 2005 she expanded her business to include Fantasy Hall, a banquet facility located in South Nashville's Antioch neighborhood.
Alba Gonzalez Nylander - Alba Videos & AJ Media Services
Alba Gonzalez Nylander owner of Alba Videos & AJ Media Services of Franklin, TN received the 'Hispanic Professional Achievement Award'. Alba is a 25 years veteran video producer of broadcast and professional media and has been active in assisting and promoting the interests of Hispanic women entrepreneurs in the state of Tennessee. Alba holds a B.A degree in Broadcast Video, TV and Film Production from Columbia College.
Alba has served as a key video technical engineer for Fox Sports, CBS, TNN, and the Spanish language television network Univision.

Marisela Tapia - Hispanic Community Civic Advocacy Award
Marisela Tapia received a Certificate of Recognition for 'Hispanic Community Civic Advocacy'. Marisela is the English Language Learners family liaison at Bradley Academy in the Murfreesboro City Schools System and is a part of the Read to Succeed program in Rutherford County.
Cameron Parrish - Outstanding Volunteer Service Award
Cameron Parrish received the 'Outstanding Volunteer Service Award'. Cameron is Director of Membership and Corporate Relations for the NAHCC and lives in Murfreesboro where he is dedicated to expand the organization's membership to serve Rutherford County's emergent Hispanic community.
Parrish served as Partnership Specialist for the Department of Commerce during the 2010 Census and is a former regional manager of operations for Knowledge Learning Corporation, responsible for the delivery of academic intervention programs in high-risk public schools in Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville

Azucena Rios - Hispanic Heritage Legacy Award
Azucena Rios from Los Herrera, Nuevo Leon, Mexico had for over 35 years a very successful musical career.
Azucena very powerful voice and interpretation delighted audiences in many countries, receiving many awards through her musical career she is remembered as a loving and caring wonderful performer.
Luna Morena and Giovanni Rios receive the 2010 NAHCC Hispanic Heritage Legacy Certificate of Recognition on behalf of their mother Azucena Rios, "In Deep Appreciation & Commemoration For Her Musical Legacy". Talented and loved in the community, Azucena Rios lost her life in an automobile accident last year.
