"Undertow" directed by Peruvian filmmaker Javier Fuentes Leon takes Best Film By A Hispanic Filmmaker Award at 41st Nashville Film Festival
Nashville, Tennessee.- An unusual ghost story set on the Peruvian seaside. Undertow tells the story of a married fisherman struggling to reconcile his devotion to his male lover with his town’s religious traditions.
The Winner of the Audience Award for Best in World Cinema at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, UNDERTOW's selection as the recipient of the 2010 award presented by the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was announced at the Hard Rock Café in downtown Nashville.
"A magnificient film that entangled the audience beyond language and cultural differences. Beautiful, poetic and thought provoking 'Undertow' delivered a profound message of courage, responsibility, fear and the multidensional nature of love" said Yuri Cunza, President and CEO of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and member of the Nashville Film Festival Board of Directors.
The 2010 Best Film By A Hispanic Filmmaker Award includes an artistic prize specially created by Colombian visual artist Orlando Garcia-Camacho, recipient of the "Leonardo Da Vinci Award" (2009 Brindisi, Italy).
