Help Tennessee Become No. 1 State for
Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced today it will participate in Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 12 – 18, by hosting two programs “Access to Capital - A Workshop for Hispanic Entrepreneurs"and "What You Need To Know About Your Finances: 7 Deadly Sins That Kill Small Business" as part of its financial literacy series for the Hispanic entrepreneur in partnership with the SBA-Tennessee District Office, chamber members and local partners.
To date, Tennessee has confirmed more than multiple events for Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 12– 18, which celebrates the vital role entrepreneurs play in innovation, job creation and economic recovery. Global Entrepreneurship Week is a global initiative to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity in local communities across the globe. Nationally, Tennessee outranks all other states in planned events for the week, including California and Michigan, proving that the spirit of entrepreneurship is booming in the Volunteer State.
"We are very excited about our participation in GEW this year and for the opportunity to engage a substantial number of Hispanic entrepreneurs in our area that are so vital to our local economy. A survey our organization conducted in partnership with Tennessee State University shows the number of Hispanic own businesses in our area to amount to over 1,800 and growing. A sometimes isolated Hispanic business community, key to our future economic prosperity will benefit greatly from the outstanding Global Entrepreneurship Week programs offered by our partners in Tennessee. This gives us a unique opportunity not only to join in support, but to bring something to the table" says Yuri Cunza, President and CEO of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Global Entrepreneurship Week encourages young people in 87 countries around the world to learn more about entrepreneurship and the opportunities available to entrepreneurs through local, national and global activities. In past years during Global Entrepreneurship Week, Tennessee partners reached more than 1,000 people with events designed to inspire entrepreneurship and innovation.
