Luis was appointed Co-Chair by Mayor Peterson to the Commission on Latino Affairs, created to increase Latino involvement in city government and make city services more accessible to residents. In addition, Luis received The Fifth Third CRA Legacy Award, and the Outstanding Professional Leadership Award from the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Claudia Urdinola Rodriguez is a professional civil engineer with 2 masters in project management and quality control, originally from Colombia - South America, Claudia has over 20 years of experience in construction, working for public and private Infrastructure Projects for Multinational Companies in South America, Central America and the Caribbean, also worked as estimator for biding and budget formulation in the USA.
In 2010 Claudia started an agribusiness enterprise at her farm "Butterfly Hill Ranch" located near Lebanon TN. In 2011 she was recognized as one of top three participants at the U.S Hispanic Chamber Foundation Green Builds Business national program initiative hosted by the Nashville Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the production of Organic Cattle, poultry, fruits and vegetables.
Encouraged by Upper Cumberland Tourism Association to open a Bed and Breakfast in 2013, Claudia expanded the Dexter Cattle business with the guidance of the Agricultural Extension office of Wilson County where she completed the education program as a Master Beef Producer.
In 2014 Butterfly Hill Ranch Dexter Cattle got the first place in multiple categories at the Wilson County Fair which was a great opportunity to show the high-quality livestock produced at Butterfly Hill Ranch.
Her Dexter cows at Butterfly Hill Ranch are part of a Tennessee State University breeding research program on Dexter Cattle.
Earlier this year Claudia was awarded with a grant from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service to bring the natural spring water to different locations at farm. The water was Lab tested as high quality, therefore Claudia is exploring the possibility to bottle the water and take it to the market.

Joyce Searcy, Belmont University., Director of Community Relations
A graduate of both Fisk and Vanderbilt Universities, Joyce is the recipient of the prestigious Athena Award for 2008. In Nashville, the Athena Award is considered the highest award recognizing the achievements of business women. During the summer of 2008, Joyce attended Harvard Business School’s “Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management” on a full scholarship. Joyce is the current secretary of the Board of Trustees for Leadership Nashville, immediate past president of the New Level Community Development Corporation, and co-chaired the 2008-09 Nashville Chamber Education Report Card committee. Joyce is currently serving as vice president of Full Circle and is a member of the Metro Nashville Library Board of Directors.
Joyce has been the Vice President for Mid-States for the YWCA of the USA and recently completed a term on the National Board for Girl Scouts of the USA. Rolando Toyos, M.D, Owner/Founder, Toyos Clinics
Dr. Toyos is originally from California. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School where he played Varsity Basketball, Baseball and Football and was a finalist for the CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from The University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University, where he was a straight A student. Before beginning medical school, Dr. Toyos worked as a high school teacher and basketball coach. He won the National Teaching Award from Columbia University for his science curriculum development and his work with at-risk children. He then received his medical degree at the University of Illinois where he was Class President, graduating with James Scholar Academic Honors and received a community service award for helping Chicago City Public Schools develop a pre-med program for students interested in medicine. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University and Chicago Children's Hospital. Dr. Toyos spent one year performing LASIK at the Assil Eye Institute in Beverly Hills.

Oky was born in Costa Rica and has dedicated her life to study, work and family, with seven combined years in College and Higher Education institutions, ten years of successful practice in Clinical/Counseling Psychology, ten years of experience in Medical Interpretation and more than twenty years of experience in Advertising, Marketing Strategy, New Product Development, PR and Marketing Management.
Oky Arguello has Bachelor degrees in Performing Arts and Business Administration and holds a Master Degree in Marketing and a Ph.D in Naturopathic and Humanistic Psychology. She is fluent in Spanish, English and conversational Portuguese, and among her many strengths she is great at working with people to get the necessary balance to achieve an emotionally committed team. She has published three books.
In 2013, Oky was honored at Vol State for her work on a successful TBR Access and Diversity grant program. As the Family Outreach Specialist, Oky worked with potential students and their families to navigate the college process. Education about higher education is quite important for the Hispanic community, especially because the American higher education system is much different than the systems in many Latin American countries. Oky organized and lead classes to inform families about college-going and took them on visits to colleges and universities.

In September 2008 he opened, together with his wife and daughter, the first restaurant, and now the family has successfully opened the third location, serving traditional Salvadorean food in Murfresboro.

Ramón is owner of San Jose Fiesta Mexican restaurant at 99 Wallace Road, has opened half a dozen businesses since he immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico in 1976, starting with a Mexican store and cleaning service in Charlotte, N.C. He now operates San Jose Fiesta and is the manager of Arellano Boxing, which develops boxers.
Arellano found business success through hard work, long hours and taking chances. He said his biggest challenge in being an immigrant business owner was learning about government regulations and the U.S. tax system.
"When we came to the United States, we had nothing," he said. "I work, work, work. I own my building and I still mop, sweep and clean bathrooms."

Paul was born in Colombia and is a US citizen since 1995. He has a BA in Marketing Communication and has worked in advertising agencies and media in Latin America. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French. Upon his arrival to Tennessee he created BUENOS DIAS, the first publication in Spanish in Nashville. Later, he joined Vanderbilt University Library where he retired in 2005 and became an interpreter for the Tennessee Foreign Language institute. While doing interpretations, Paul saw the need to provide the refugees, asylees and new arrivals with a civic education tool to familiarized them with the rules and regulations on how this country functions in every day life, creating The Immigrant's Manual / El Manual del Inmigrante, a publication cataloged by the library of Congress.
Paul was born in Colombia and is a US citizen since 1995. He has a BA in Marketing Communication and has worked in advertising agencies and media in Latin America. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French. Upon his arrival to Tennessee he created BUENOS DIAS, the first publication in Spanish in Nashville. Roland is experienced in marketing, sales and media. He is a market based Executive with FedEx Office focused on business development. Early in his career he was a daily newspaper reporter, then columnist, and later was named advertising director for a daily paper. His marketing and sales experience includes working with The Ritz Carlton Hotel Group, AFLAC, AT&T, BellSouth, and Callaway Gardens Resort. Roland was awarded the prestigious FedEx Purple Promise Award, the only FedEx corporate-wide program publicly honoring outstanding performance.
Roland is a public education advocate and vice chairman of the Metro Nashville Public Schools’ Director’s Parent Advisory Council. He is the recent recipient of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce 2014 Spirit of the Chamber Award.
